ART. 2 of the EA SSC statutes reads as follows:

ART. 2    OBJECTIVES

2.1    The Association objectives are advice and service to the benefit of its members and more specifically:
2.1.1        to represent and promote the general interests of the members in one identifiable, professional organisation representing the European Steel Service Center Industry within EUROMETAL, the European Federation of Associations of Steel, Tube and Metal Distribution.
2.1.2      to establish and maintain appropriate working structures to serve the sector's needs regarding regional markets and/or different steel consuming industries.

2.2    The Presidency will decide on the details of the objectives which will be reviewed every year.

In accordance with this regulation the details of the objectives should be specified as follows with the result of a working programme and a profile for the EA SSC Presidency:

1.    The EA SSC President will serve as Vice President of EUROMETAL representing the interests of the European steel service center industry within the European Federation of Steel, Tube and Metal Distribution,

  • internally regarding the other sector of steel and metal distribution,
  • externally regarding all other stakeholders in the European steel market,
  • actively participating in any EUROMETAL Presidency activities,
  • chairing the EUROMETAL Service Center Commission, and
  • organising, supporting and co-ordinating all SSC working structures.

2.    The EA SSC will set up and maintain statistical systems regarding all relevant data to monitor the sector's activities as an essential part of European steel distribution in the context of the supply of the steel consuming industries.

3.    The EA SSC will constantly research the major trends of the main customer sectors of the European steel service center industry allowing a competent forecast of the probable short- and medium-term developments.

4.    The EA SSC will monitor the political and economic framework of the European steel market including the structures of European steel production and market supply taking into consideration the relevant global implications.

5.    The EA SSC will engage in all activities regarding the general business conditions of European steel distribution.

6.    The EA SSC will identify all developments regarding the technical and logistical know how (state of the art) of the European steel service center industry.

7.    The EA SSC will support the institutionalised dialogue of its members and/or member companies in regional markets which will be defined following the sector's needs.

8.    The EA SSC will constantly look at all questions regarding the safety of all business activities of the steel service centers.
